Slow Cooker Creamy Tomato Soup

tomatosoupWho doesn’t love a good heart warming meal of tomato soup and grilled cheese? It’s a childhood staple that we continue to love into our adulthood. And with the cold weather we get in an Indiana winter, this is a perfect, easy meal the whole family will enjoy.







28 ounce can of crushed tomatoes

4 cups of chicken broth

1 tsp dried Oregano

1 tsp dried Basil

1 c heavy cream

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

2 Tbsp butter

5 tsp sugar



Add tomatoes, chicken broth, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar to slow cooker. Stir very well to get spices incorporated. Cook on high for 4-6 hours or low for 8 hours. Add cream and butter and stir well. Serve with grilled cheese sandwiches, shaved parmesan cheese, or oyster crackers. I made this lunch for Valentine’s Day and created heart-shaped grilled cheese sandwiches with a heart-shaped cookie cutter. Enjoy!
